[Born at Langensalze, in Saxony, 1762. Died, 1836. Aged 74.] Professor of medicine at Jena in 1793, and physician to the King of Prussia. The author of several works, the most celebrated being “The Art of prolonging Human Life,” a book translated into many languages.
