The 2025 Armory Track & Field Camp: A Coaching Debut by Robby and Josette Andrews
In November 2025, world-class athletes and coaches Robby and Josette Andrews will return to The Armory in New York City to host the 2025 Track & Field Camp, marking their debut full-day coaching session together. This exclusive event aims to connect high school track and field athletes with professional mentors, offering immersive training across disciplines like pole vault, hurdles, and throws, with a focus on middle-distance running guidance from the couple.
A Legacy at The Armory
The Armory, hailed as the "World’s Fastest Track," holds profound significance for both Andrews. For Josette, who placed sixth at the 2023 Tokyo World Athletics Championships, growing up just 15 minutes from the venue fostered an early bond. "It was the site of my first indoor track meet and my professional debut," she reflects. Her athletic journey includes standout performances: second place in the Millrose Games Women’s 3000m and a Wanamaker Mile podium finish, with championship ambitions for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Robby Andrews, Josette’s husband and fellow Olympian-turned-coach, shares a similarly deep connection. Raised in a running family, he visited The Armory frequently as a youth and later set two national high school records and claimed a national title there. "The Armory has been pivotal to my sporting identity," he notes, reflecting on his high school triumphs.
A Debut Full-Day Camp
This marks the Andrews’ first collaborative full-day coaching initiative, following their previous clinics. "We’re thrilled to create a dynamic learning environment where young athletes can explore diverse track disciplines," Robby explains. Josette adds, "Exposure to multiple sports is key—try everything to discover your passion."
The camp will prioritize hands-on learning: athletes will engage with professional coaches, refine technique, and build foundational skills. For Robby, the reward lies in witnessing "young athletes thrive through focused guidance," while Josette emphasizes consistency as the cornerstone of progress: "Success in track demands persistence, not just talent."
Guiding Young Athletes: Principles for Growth
Both coaches stress experimentation. "When I was younger, I loved sports like kickball and running," Josette recalls. "Trying varied disciplines helped me find my strength." Robby echoes this: "Don’t limit yourself to what you see on TV—explore every event to uncover your niche."
Their advice to aspiring athletes? "Embrace the grind," Robby advises. "Drills and repetition turn skill into instinct. The more you practice, the more natural progress becomes."
