Jade Henderson Shatters Guinness World Record for Women’s One-Hour Pull-Ups

Until recently, the women’s one-hour pull-up world record stood at 725 repetitions, a milestone achieved in 2016 and unbroken for nearly a decade. On August 22, 2025, however, Australian police officer and CrossFit competitor Jade Henderson shattered this record, completing 733 pull-ups in 60 minutes—a remarkable average of over 12 repetitions per minute.

Motivation and Athletic Background

In an interview with Guinness World Records, Henderson (32) explained her driving force: “I decided to pursue the pull-up world record because I wanted to accomplish something unprecedented. I also sought to test the limits of what my mind and body could endure.”

A seasoned athlete, Henderson balances her career as a police officer with rigorous physical training, using exercise as a means to manage stress. Notably, she previously tore her bicep while attempting a 24-hour pull-up record before pivoting to the one-hour challenge just three months prior. She joins a lineage of Australian athletes who have excelled in pull-up feats: in June 2022, Caine Eckstein set the men’s record with 1,131 repetitions.

The Challenge: Pain, Perseverance, and Breakthrough

Henderson’s journey to 733 repetitions was fraught with physical discomfort. By the final 20 minutes of the hour-long challenge, she experienced severe palm pain: “With 20 minutes remaining, the skin on my hands tore. My palms were already raw and painful, but I knew I had to finish. Pushing through that agony was non-negotiable—I’m proud I didn’t stop until the end.”

Her strategy focused on incremental progress: “I didn’t fixate on a specific number. My goal was to exceed the previous 725 reps, and every rep brought me closer to that.”

Legacy and Inspiration

Now, Henderson hopes her achievement will inspire others to step beyond comfort zones: “Define your goal, craft a plan, and relentlessly work toward it daily.”
